I hope you had a fun and safe long weekend! We stayed close to home as we always tend to do and enjoyed ample outside time spend cleaning up our backyard and preparing the garden for veggies. I was SO tempted to get started with transplanting but our Northern springs are just so unpredictable that I always stick to the rule of waiting until the “first moon in June” to put anything in the ground. Okay – that’s sort of a fib as I did transplant some rhubarb from my mother-in-law’s garden and we planted an apple tree too. I think I’ll put some pea seeds in the ground soon too, because I’m so excited for garden fresh peas this summer!
But on to something to snack on now that doesn’t require waiting! I’m really excited to share with you an amazing new snack find today. I was contacted by the lovely people at TastyMakes a few weeks ago now to see if I was interested in trying their products. This was the first I had heard of them, but after reading up and finding out that everything they make is raw, sprouted, organic, vegan and gluten free, obviously, my answer was a big YES! They make healthy, nourishing snacks from real food and are so pasionate about it.
From TastyMakes co-founder Melissa: “We believe that everyone deserves to experience and enjoy the health
benefits of eating nourishing, whole, raw foods. Through our snacks, we
aim to empower people and their bodies to be their natural best – and
feel their natural best. We aim to be that tasty dose of daily optimism,
strength, and vitality in the lives of others.”
I was thrilled when a box of goodies arrived on my doorstep a few days later and right away dug into everything.
First things first I opened up the granolas. The Choco-coco flavour was sublely amazing — not too sweet, cut with the sharp bite of cacao nibs and crunchy buckwheat, my FAVOURITE part of any granola. Seriously guys, I can’t. Get. Enough. Buckwheat. It was perfect on top of my favourite green smoothie. And I recently used the last few crumbs to top off a batch of applesauce muffins that I made for Woodrow.
The Apple Pie Granola was both my and Woodrow’s favourite. It was so more-ish with it’s warm and cozy cinnamon-spiced clusters of crunch. I was pretty much tethered to our bag of it as I carried it around with me in my day bag for quick snacks and nibbles until it was gone.
I also sampled 2 flavours of bar bites. The Vanilla Nut bites are just the cutest little bite-sized snacks around. They were gently sweet with subtle coconut and almond flavour. When my stomach was grumbling for a mid-morning snack, 3-4 of these did the trick.
The Lemon Bar Bites are bursting with… you guessed it, lemon flavour. My boys were a bit less keen on this flavour but honestly, that suited me just as well as it meant I was able to nosh away on them all to myself! They actually fueled me through a long day of vending Oh My Bakeshop cupcakes at community Earth Day festival.
Also, each bag comes with an inspirational note or quote inside. What a sweet attention to detail.
I really loved these treats and I’m really looking forward to trying the
rest of the product line. Next on my hit list are their line of raw
crackers. I’ve just ordered some of the Fig & Onion Crackers, and more Apple Pie Granola and I
can’t wait to dig into them!
In order to make sure you’ve always got a supply of these yummy goodies on hand, TastyMakes just launched TastyBoxes: a monthly subscription of their products that arrive on your
